Focus: Attention, Not Tension

If your dog has trouble focusing on his/her handler in the presence of distractions (such as dogs, people, and environmental stimuli) then Focus class is a good fit for you!

If your dog is reactive or fearful, you need to be able to shift her attention to focus on you. This course is designed to teach you how to use focus commands in various situations. You will learn and practice strategies to manage distance and intensity so that your dog does not respond in a reactive manner. This fun, energetic, short class provides a treasure trove of strategies for keeping your dog focused on you despite external distractions and sudden challenges.

To benefit from this class, your dog should be at the level where he is capable of being relaxed within visual distance of the stimulus. If your dog is displaying aggressive behavior toward humans or other dogs, on- and off-leash, you should meet with our Veterinary Behavior Specialist. If your dog is aggressive to other dogs while on-leash but not while off-leash, check out our Reactive Rover class.
